I Love the Aquabats and Being a Dork

Spread the love

I’ve been a fan of the Aquabats since 1994. The mother of a band member was my brother’s math teacher (got that?), so he heard about them in class and introduced me to them. This Southern California band started out as ska and morphed over the years. They write songs that are silly, happy and cheery. I’ve been to many of their concerts over the years. It’s a rollickin’ good time since they do stage battles, pool float races and show wacky videos. The lead singer is also the co-creator of Yo Gabba Gabba.

A few years ago, there was a contest on Facebook to win a Wii. You had to create a dance video, then get people to vote. I wanted to win this for my momma (who has been playing video games also since the 1980s), so I shamelessly begged all of my friends and The Internet for votes. I won!

Here is the winning video of me dancing to “Magic Chicken” by the Aquabats. Just thought I would offer up more proof of what a dork I am. 🙂 I need to make more silly videos in the future.

This is one of my favorite songs. I still like to sing about how “chicken makes me feel so good” sometimes when I am partaking of that bird. I am also especially fond of “Pizza Day”, “Martian Girl” and “Pool Party”.

I strongly urge you to check out the Aquabats. The world needs more happy music and silliness, indeed.
